Bo-Tree Integral

Bo- Tree or the Bodhi Tree is a sacred fig tree found in South Asia. Also known as the ‘World Tree’ or ‘Wisdom Tree’, it is a sacred symbol in Hindu and Buddhist traditions. It is said that the Buddha attained enlightenment under this very tree in Bodh Gaya, India.

Often depicted with intricate leaf patterns with its image reflected in the water, the Bo-Tree symbolizes self-knowledge, growth, potential, balance, and wisdom. The Bo-Tree is a place of refuge- a place to reflect and access wisdom. It is this essence of the Bo-Tree that I offer in my coaching and dreamwork practice.

Bo-Tree Integral

As I build out my practice, I wanted to have an image that can capture the essence of my practice. After much reflection and a short yet stimulating creative process, I came up with a logo for my practice. The Bo-Tree Integral logo comprises three elements: The Bodhi Tree, the Diya, and the Spiral Symbol. The majestic Bodhi Tree represents a refuge for self-exploration and self-knowledge. It offers a safe space to reflect, inquire and develop. It also invites us to embody its qualities- to branch off and explore yet stay rooted in the ground, expressing a vital balance. It also invites us to reflect on our own beauty and the beauty that surrounds us. It symbolizes the wisdom that lies in us and in nature.

The Diya is a traditional lamp made out of clay in India. often used in places of worship and during festivals, the Diya symbolizes the light. It illuminates the process of moving from darkness to light-from ignorance to awareness. At Bo-Tree Integral, it also represents the light in each of us.

The Spiral Symbol, in many cultures and beliefs, represents creation and life as well as continuity. In my practice, it also represents development, knowledge, and awareness. The Spiral Symbol also invites us to trace our path from inward to outward.

These three elements capture the essence of my practice at Bo-Tree Integral: a safe refuge to discover your light and trace your path inward.

My Approach

As a coach, I draw upon my training as an Integral Coach as well as my own development experience. Integral Coaching is a developmental approach that allows the deepening of skills & qualities along with a focus on practical outcomes. The philosophy that guides this approach is that all aspects of our lives are integrated and that development in one aspect will impact other aspects of our life leading to a more integrated way of being. Integral Coaching recognizes that personal development is not just about acquiring new skills or following a blueprint to achieve a goal, but also about exploring one’s beliefs, values, and emotions for long-term impact. Integral Coaching draws upon many traditions—biology, cognitive science, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, and more—which provide many avenues of insight and practice.

In our coaching work, my goal is twofold: to design and offer you a program that builds and expands your capacity to engage with life more fully and by being more present as well as to support you with practical how-to’s and brainstorming during our coaching sessions. Some of the developmental challenges I’ve worked with clients in the past include public speaking, communication & influence, motivation, clarity, finding direction, relationship wellness, spiritual discovery, and confidence-building, as well as clients who have wanted to work on leadership goals.

My approach, however, is not limited to these issues. My goal is to support you with whatever life interruption you may be facing as well as with your goals. Our work together will not be based on immediate problem-solving but on long-term development that can create the capacity to respond to short-term challenges. I do not follow a one size fits all approach but bring in different techniques and borrow from several disciplines to curate a program that works specifically for you.

Dream mapping or dreamwork is a commonly accepted term that describes the exploration, investigation, and analysis of dreams. It is the process of exploring and analyzing the content of dreams with the intention to recognize and uncover patterns, symbols, and themes within them.

While dream mapping is used as an approach in psychotherapy, it also has a long and significant history in many cultures. Dream mapping is used to gain more self-awareness, improve creativity, for problem-solving, for individual growth & development, and overall wellness as well as gain insights into one’s subconscious mind. My dreamwork approach is based on Jungian theory and draws upon several other methods like Gestalt, Ullman method, and others.

A key principle in dream mapping is that the meaning of a dream is unique to the dreamer. This principle is central to my dreamwork practice- to honor the dream as well as the dreamer.

By offering creative and structured exercises as well as guiding the dreamer to bring attention to the various elements of a dream, such as the characters, settings, objects, and emotions experienced during the dream, I support you in engaging and learning from the teacher- the dream itself.

Dream mapping or dreamwork is often used as a tool for reflection in psychotherapy although dreamwork in my practice will not be a substitute for psychotherapy or other professional treatments.

'Animal Surrounding Bana' by Mithelesh Shayam. Picture credits: tribalartsindia.com. Gond artwork is practiced by the Gond tribe who are predominantly from Central and Eastern India. Gond paintings often depict elements of nature, often local sacred trees that represent the tree of life. The Bana, a three stringed musical instrument is considered sacred and played to pass on oral traditions. These elements in this painting evoke a deep sense of connection to my practice at Bo-Tree Integral. The painting visually captures my offering at Bo-Tree Integral- a refuge under the Wisdom Tree. A space for all beings to explore, express and discover as they connect with the rhythm and the music of life. The painting graces my living room and reminds me of these qualities as I immerse in its beauty everyday.
